The main focus is on economic research as the research partners include the Frisch Centre (host institution), Department of Economics (University of Oslo), the Research department at Statistics Norway, and Tilburg Sustainability Center (the Netherlands). Cooperation with Centre for Development and Environment (University of Oslo), Faculty of Law (University of Oslo) and Institute for Energy Technology (IFE – Norway) broadens the research perspective. The user perspective is ensured by several user partners from industry and government.
CREE will collect and develop knowledge on how framework conditions shape the energy markets and provide incentives for innovation and diffusion of environmentally friendly technology, including improved energy efficiency and carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. The centre will examine policy instruments designed to reach the energy and climate goals established nationally and internationally. CREE will also contribute to methodological advances within the field of environmentally friendly energy.
Our portfolio is divided into four flagships studying radical emissions reductions in the ETS sectors, environmentally friendly transport, green innovation and utilization of smart technologies, and the path towards the low-emission society.
The center started its activities in August 2011.
