Models

In our research, we apply several models to analyze different aspect for the Norwegian economy and energy markets of various environmental policy measures. The main economic models applied in our research are:

LIBEMOD

LIBEralization MODel for the European Energy Markets

LIBEMOD determines simultaneously investment, extraction, production, trade, transport and consumption of all energy goods (prices and quantities) in 31 European countries. In addition, the model determines prices and quantities of the globally traded energy goods biofuel, coking coal, steam coal and oil, as well as emissions of CO2 by sectors and countries. The model can be run under alternative assumptions about market structure and whether there is uncertainty.

The LIBEMOD model has been developed by researchers at the Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research and the Research Department at Statistics Norway.

SNoW-NO

Statistics Norway’s World model for Norway

SNOW-NO is a recursive dynamic multi-sector general equilibrium (CGE) model for the Norwegian economy, developed to study energy and environmental policies and strategies. SNOW-NO computes annual equilibrium levels for supply and demand as well as domestic prices for a number of goods, services and production factors (labour, capital, energy), as well as emissions of greenhouse gases and welfare Costs.

The SNoW model has been developed by researchers at the Research Department at Statistics Norway.

FRISBEE

Framework of international Strategic Behaviour in Energy and Environment

FRISBEE is a global dynamic partial equilibrium model for fossil fuels, electricity and renewable energy sources.

The FRISBEE model has been developed by researchers at the Research Department at Statistics Norway.

PETRO2

Petroleum market models

The dynamic simulation model PETRO2 analyses the impact of market conditions and/or climate-/energy-policies on the oil market. PETRO2 models OPECs market Power, and the model yields long run oil prices and oil production/consumption.

The PETRO2 model has been developed by researchers at the Research Department at Statistics Norway.

PetroHead

PetroHead is a numerical dynamic partial equilibrium model for the world oil, gas and coal markets.

The PetroHead model has been developed by researchers at the Research Department at Statistics Norway.
